Light copyediting

1.0–3.0 ¢ per word

Light copyediting includes all mechanical errors like spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. It will also include obvious grammatical errors, suggest edits and fact checking, but will not include actual correction. This is best for projects that have been thoroughly edited already and need a final cleanup.

Medium copyediting

2.0–4.0 ¢ per word

Medium copyediting includes light copyediting plus syntax and usage errors. It also includes suggestions on wordy passages, query facts, and suggestions on how to correct basic organization. This is for projects that have had basic editing.

Heavy copyediting

4.0–6.0 ¢ per word

Heavy copyediting includes medium copyediting plus verifying and revising facts, fixing organization, and rewriting wordy parts.

Line editing

5.0–7.0 ¢ per word

Line editing looks at the sentence level to ensure everything reads and flows well. It does not include grammatical corrections.
