About me
Hi, I’m Tara, owner of Cedar Coast Editing. Thanks for visiting!
I’m an avid reader of just about anything depending on my mood from romance to nonfiction—I’m a firm believer that being a good editor requires being a good reader. I want to help you be the best writer you can be without sacrificing your personal style. Let me worry about those grammar details so you can be free to focus on your writing.
Technical stuff: I am thankful to have a wide range of experience! I have a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences, and spent four years in the Air Force as a weather officer. After leaving the Air Force, I went on to earn a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management that I never used and instead went to culinary school. From there, I created a food blog—quickly learning that good pictures, not just recipes, are essential to success in the food world! Then I took a long pause to do the parenting thing. Before going back to the workforce, I earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and followed up by completing my copyediting certificate from UCSD Extended Studies.
Other details: I’m mom to a human kid, two furry kids, and married to my best friend. My ideal evening is a good book, warm socks, tea or wine, and a dog in my lap. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it definitely rains all the time and is never sunny (we like to keep it a secret how great the weather is here, so don’t tell anyone). When I’m not reading, I enjoy playing guitar, baking bread, tending to my many indoor plants, and fixing up my oldish house.
